Vacuum Chambers
There are three
important elements required for the design and manufacture of a vacuum
vessel:
· Experience
· Welding
· Leak Detection
Ability Engineering
Technology has all three.
Experience
Ability Engineering
Technology has been involved in the design and manufacture of vacuum
vessels and vacuum systems for 12 years. The experience of the principles
includes over 30 years experience in the design of vacuum vessels and
systems.
Ability manufactures
chambers for high and ultra high vacuum vessels including he design
and custom manufacture of wire seal flanges up to 68" in diameter.
In addition to the design and manufacture of vacuum vessels Ability
has in house machining of all components used in the manufacture of
these vessels. All welders are ASME code certified and all materials
can be traced to their source in accordance with ASME Code requirements.
The range of shapes
and sizes of vessels designed include torroidal shaped vessels for service
in a plasma fusion experiment and kidney shaped vessels used for bending
magnets at a University Cyclotron. The range of materials we have used
include:
· Stainless
Steel
· Aluminum
· Inconel
· Titanium
Welding Technology
Over 90% of the
welding performed at Ability is vacuum related in some way. We build
complex cryogenic equipment containing process piping housed within
a vacuum vessel. This requires that each weld be leak checked at least
twice. Each welder is trained and tested for both weld integrity as
required by ASME Code and our high requirement for quality, leak free
welds. A continuing flow of vacuum related welding projects keeps our
welders fine tuned to this requirement. Our welding equipment is "State
of the Art" Pulsed Tig. All of our welders are ASME Code certified.
Leak Detection
Ability has two
late model Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Detectors capable of detecting
leaks as small as 1 X 10-10 std cc's/sec. We have pumping stations including
a roots blower, cold trapped diffusion pump systems as well as a turbo
and cryopump. All of our vacuum equipment is manned by experienced technicians.
Review our web page for examples of the many vessels we have built.
One of our most recent vessels was 60" in diameter x 12' long a
we were able to pump it down to 5 x 10-9 torr in 3 weeks with no bakeout
and using only a single 500 1/sec turbo.
